Kiros Tsegay Deribew (Assistant Professor)

Kiros Tsegaye Deribew is a dedicated researcher and assistant professor at Raya University, serving as the research and indigenous knowledge coordinator. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Mizan-Tepi University and a master’s degree in GIS, remote sensing, and digital cartography from Addis Ababa University. With over eight years of professional experience and 29 scientific publications, Kiros has established himself as an expert in remote sensing, with research focusing on forest ecosystem management, advanced land use/cover modeling, spatial and statistical analysis, climate modeling, and watershed management. He is recognized for his strong analytical and technical skills, particularly in applying advanced geospatial tools to address complex environmental and natural resource challenges. His work emphasizes the integration of modern scientific approaches with indigenous knowledge systems, ensuring that local wisdom informs sustainable resource management and community resilience. Through his academic leadership and research contributions, Kiros continues to support evidence-based decision-making and promote innovative solutions.
