Ishmael Lente, PhD

Dr. Ishmael Lente is a lecturer in the Department of Environment and Public Health at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Somanya. He holds a PhD and M.Phil in Environmental Science from the University of Ghana, a Master of Education in Teaching in Higher Education, and a B.Ed. in Science Education (Chemistry, First Class) from the University of Cape Coast. He also earned Certificate “A” at St. Francis Teacher Training College, Hohoe.

With over 17 years of teaching experience (13 in pre-tertiary and 5 in tertiary education), Dr. Lente has worked extensively with farmers on climate-smart agriculture, climate change adaptation, and soil and water quality in semi-arid regions. He has also accumulated over 11 years of consultancy experience with SAL Consult Limited (2014–2020), preparing and implementing environmental and social safeguards for projects under the Ghana EPA, African Development Bank, and World Bank. His work includes developing SEPs, ESMPs, EIS, AERs, EDDRs, audit reports, baseline studies, and resettlement frameworks.

A member of UTAG and IAIA Ghana, Dr. Lente integrates his industry expertise into teaching, research, and community service. His research interests include:
