
Mitiku Badasa Moisa
Mr. Mitiku Badasa Moisa is a lecturer and senior researcher at Wollega University, Ethiopia. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geo-Information Science and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in GIS and Remote Sensing. His research expertise spans natural resource management, environmental science, climate change, and geographic information science. Mitiku has rich experiences in utilizing geospatial technologies to investigate environmental challenges and suggesting wise use of natural resources. His primary research interests include land use and land cover change, forest management, carbon stock assessment, biodiversity conservation, and climate science, with a strong focus on the application of GIS and remote sensing for climate variability and environmental studies. Mitiku’s work combines spatial data and analytical techniques to monitor environmental changes, assess land suitability, and support evidence-based decision-making in natural resource management. Throughout his career, Mitiku has been involved in numerous research projects that have not only advanced scientific understanding but also provided practical, policy-relevant solutions. His research is aimed at improving environmental management strategies, conserving biodiversity, and fostering sustainable practices in natural resources. He also served as an academic editor of the PLOS ONE journal and a member of the Global Land Program. He is committed to contributing to the academic and research community by addressing pressing environmental concerns, promoting sustainable resource management, and advancing the use of geospatial technologies for environmental decision-making.
