Dr. Mohammad-Hadi Ahmad

Mohammad-Hadi is a principal scientific officer at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and a volunteer lecturer in the meteorology/geography department at Bayero University Kano. As a geospatial and environmental scientist, he specializes in climate and environmental change modeling, remote sensing, and disaster risk management. Dr. Mohammad-Hadi leads multidisciplinary research projects spanning climate-smart innovations for Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU); radiological surveys and soil fertility mapping; geospatial analysis of malnutrition in Jigawa State; desertification driven by climate change and land-use dynamics; Kano erosion and watershed mapping; automated land-use classification; and irrigation potential zoning. His work integrates geospatial analytics, machine learning, and indigenous knowledge systems to address pressing environmental challenges, particularly in vulnerable regions such as the flood-prone Hadejia River Basin. A co-leader of USAID-funded initiatives on flood risk prediction and adaptation strategies, he employs advanced geospatial tools, including GIS, statistical downscaling models (SDSM), and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). His research, published in journals such as Ecological Indicators and Sustainability, focuses on vegetation dynamics, flood policy coherence, and land-use suitability modeling. Proficient in Python, R, and cloud computing, he bridges technical innovation with policy development, ensuring practical, data-driven solutions. Dr. Mohammad-Hadi’s interdisciplinary approach emphasizes capacity building, community engagement, and sustainable resource management, fostering resilience against environmental and climatic threats.
